It is November 9, 2016. Our country just had one of the most exciting elections in recent memory. We woke up today in a day that looks quite different. Hopeful for some. Anxious for others. The record voter turnout was very encouraging and hopefully, this trend will continue to push greater engagement at all levels of government. It is our country and our voice. Now, this is a roofing blog, not a political one, so I have to swing this back around with an semi-awkward segue. With all of the uncertainty, there are a few things you can count on never changing, that cover our lives like a solid roof.

  1. The truth always comes out. Whether it is a skeleton in a politicians closet, or bad business practices of a local provider. It always come out in the wash. We do our level best to always adhere to the strictest standard of truth. When you are distrustful of the man, the local businesses you love and trust will still be there standing tall. That’s another good reason to shop local first.
  2. Commerce will happen. It may look a little different, but people have been trading goods for millennia. That’s not going to stop any time soon. Who knows? It could get better. Stranger things have happened. Now is a good time to stop and take stock of how you are managing your business and money. Are there any bad habits that can go? Are there some crucial projects you have been putting off?
  3. Problems will always be with us. There is no magic bullet, political or otherwise, that will change the fact that we are a bunch of humans. The book of Job is widely considered the oldest in the Bible. Consider Job 5:7: “For affliction does not come from the dust, Nor does trouble sprout from the ground, for man is born for trouble, as sparks fly upward.” Now, that last bit about the sparks is a little vague, but I think we can all agree that trouble follows us all the way through life. We can help ourselves in this regard by surrounding ourselves with people (and businesses) of quality.
